If you're anything like me you like to dress up and go out a lot during the holiday season. From attending the Nutcracker Ballet to A Rocky Mountain High Christmas to the Vienna New Year's Celebration, you name it. I'm out there and I need a wardrobe that works for all of it!
If you don't like wearing the same cocktail dress to every event it can get pretty expensive, however. You also may not relish wearing the same party dress year after year. How, then can you look relevant for every event you plan to attend? By creating one holiday capsule collection containing a few classic garments and purchasing new trendy accessories every year!
The key to looking like you are wearing a completely new outfit lies in the accessories you choose and their trend value. By using the most recent on-trend accessories you will instantly transform your classic wardrobe pieces into new, fashionable holiday outfits that will not make a huge dent in your pocketbook!
If you're not sure which accessories are trending at any given moment you need only check out the latest runway shows to get a fresh perspective on it. I have highlighted below some of the accessories showcased on the Fall/Winter 2024/25 Runways to give you some ideas of what to incorporate. In the future all you need to do is go online and preview them in October or November. Be sure to use Pinterest as an excellent visual resource each year as well!
THE BOW
Bows were all over the Fall/Winter Runways this year, from tiny embellishments to large-scale jumbo sizes! You can add them everywhere within an outfit, at the decolletage, on the waistline, down the sleeves, or on your shoes. Shoe jewelry is a huge trend again. Add glitzy bows to the toes, the back of the heels, or at each side!

CHANEL-STYLE JACKETS
The classic Chanel jacket is a huge trend this year, everyone pairing it with jeans. For the holidays you will find them everywhere with subtle shimmery details from shiny threads running through to sparkles on buttons. You can get them at really great price points from retailers like Winners, Marshalls, and Zara's; or at better department stores like Hudson's Bay and Macy's. They are a great addition to any wardrobe as they never go out of vogue.

SHEER LAYERS
Another trend on the Fall/Winter 2024 Runways was sheer layering. It was draped over all lengths of dresses to ultimately form layers of dresses; it was attached to palazzo pants; it became trains on the backs of wide-leg pants, and it was used as floor-length jackets over a variety of different outfits. Look at the Fall 2024 Couture Collection by NATAN to view some visual representations of sheer layering. Sheer chiffon is huge this season so definitely add it to any outfit you will be wearing to your holiday outings!

EMBELLISHED FRINGE
Zuhair Murad showcased embellished fringe on some of the garments in his Fall 2024 Couture Collection and it's such a pretty embellishment to use to amp up a classic garment! You can find budget-friendly versions of it at retailers like H&M and Shein; at Etsy, and you will see it attached to many of the formal dresses carried by Hudson's Bay. It's not difficult to find this time of year when glitz and glamour is everywhere!

TRENDING HOLIDAY HANDBAGS
The classic clutch is always a good choice of bag for your holiday outings, but if you want to add a trendy element this year go with gold metallic. Gold has re-emerged as the metal of choice for 2024, as well as being a classic, so you can never go wrong in purchasing it. If you prefer a pop of colour however, red is as hot as it gets. Red was all over the 2024/25 runways and Christmas is a great time to introduce it. It will really make a statement paired with a little black dress and some flaming red shoes to match!

TRENDING HOLIDAY JEWELRY
Gold is also trending in jewelry this year and you can never go wrong by wearing it. It has traditionally been viewed as "classic" and more formal, therefore is always acceptable in every setting. It is especially acceptable during the holidays and this year there is a lot more available. The pieces trending in 2024 are gold statement cuff bracelets, gold dome hoop earrings, gold rectangular-shaped chain necklaces, rope chains, and fine layered necklaces. Pearls have also re-emerged in a big way this year and are actually being worn by younger women as they have been redesigned in a more relatable way for younger, fashion-conscious women.
