Trends To Be Seen In This Spring

The Spring 2016 runways were overflowing with new trends and artistic ideas inspired from years past. Girly girls will be thrilled with the return of feminine fashion this year. Start shopping in February when the new stock arrives and be the first to be seen in these trends:

Stripes. You've seen them all winter but now they're much softer, in sheer fabric, fine satin and silk. They're wider on coats, more subtle in suits; in pastel shades on dresses and sets.

Lace-ups. From sweaters to tees, on trousers and capri's, lace-ups will be in everything.

Applique. Loads of attachments are going to be seen in the form of flowers and patchwork, zippers and studs, on mesh, next to sheers, in 3D and laser-cuts. The use of them today is quite unique and artistic.

Pastels. The Pantone Colour of the Year is, well, two. Rose Quartz and Serenity (pale blue) respectively. You'll be seeing them soon in the palest of hues. Quite drastic from last year's bright fuschias and golds!

Black & White. Striking and chic, black and white in combination continues to be front and center in Spring 2016 fashion. You will see more graphic black and white prints, and black and white pairings of shirts and skirts.

Embellished Bohemian Vibe. Last year's Bohemian trend provided the inspiration for more embellished frocks this year in the form of harnessed collars, studding, feathers and tassels. Black lace and gold-toned metal paired with velvet and rich colour tones make for unique, show-stopping items to spice up your wardrobe.

The Long Dress. Long dresses reappeared on the runways this spring in lighter, silkier, flowy fabrics with delicate beading throughout and more coverage in the bodice area. Perfect for hot summer days.

Flaps. A new trend this year, vertically-cut pleats I call flaps were all over the runways overlaying fabric and sheer skirts and dresses.

Pleated Skirts. Long pleated skirts and dresses in light, silky fabrics were reintroduced for the spring season, along with the metallic gold and silver worn during the holidays.

Ruffles. Loads of ruffles on skirts and long dresses were seen on the runways in contrast to last seasons' blouses.

The return to femininity is definitely on trend this year and I say it's not a moment too soon!
